Another general questions thread.

First of all i should contribute on the map. It is pretty interesting and great rpg. The best rpg i ever played i should say. Me and my friend started playing it about 3 days ago. As we are pretty new to that map we are kinda placed on our own to get to know this map and find out all the features. Considering ourselves to be good at rpg stuff we thought it wouldn't be that hard. But as the time passed by we have this irritating feeling that SOMETHING is really missing in our play.
    Actually we know nothing about this map, or items, or scales or any other stuff. I aint got a lot of questions to ask, but i would appreciate full comments and answers since i believe that the number of my questions will rise, while we converse.
    First of all :We have version 2.6, me playing as Demon and my friend, playing as Serpent (both lvl 38). We acquired almost all basic spells like major heal, Furious Strike, Accelerate, Inner Strength, Melee Mastery and Acid Burn.
Demon has :1.Orc Slayer;
                 :2.Green Skin Gloves;
                 :3.Fairie Wings:
                 :4.Titanic Mask:
I can't dwell upon the stats with 100% sure, but Demon is STR based (about 60 str, 30 agi, 20 int)
Serpent has:1.KFC Killa;
                :2.Green Skin Gloves;
                :3.Titanic Mask;
Serpent is agi based (about 50 agi, 30 str, 25 int)

We have acquired recipes like Battle Wings, Blood Fists, Bone Cage, Bark Coat etc...
When we -save and afterwards try -load "code" we get only hero + items which we had on hero. Inventory(cage) and stash are empty. Is this normal?
So far we have slain Timber Warrior, but we didn't have the quest when we met him. So basically our gameplay is based on wandering around and slaying whatever we meet. Is there some cetrain npc or location, where quests are obtained?
I would appreciate if you have anything to say. Which items should we avoid, any mistakes that you, skilled players, noticed so far.
Any advices you have? Any information would be useful.
